Happy New Year. I am very glad to share this new site with you, and some very good news. Three pieces of mine were accepted into this year's Society of Illustrators 30 contest in the Poster, Kids Book, and Surface Design categories. See the accepted pieces below, and a big THANK YOU to the judges!

Ghosties: if you know me at all, you know that I do indeed love the Halloween. I have a couple (and by a couple, I mean two) of these ghost stuffies left for sale. Get yours here before it evaporates, like a mist, into the dark night.

.. and when I say LOVE you best believe I'm in LOVE L-U-V. A one-color poster design for the Oakland Museum and Oakland Pride. I'll be with the OMCA's "mobile unit", teaching folks how to screenprint their own take-away posters at the Pride festivities. We'll be close to the intersection of Broadway and 14th. Come say hi!

Friendlies, I unearthed these 2008 CVB posters a few weeks back and put them back up in the shop so I thought I'd unearth the video of me making them in the basement. In the most hoopty sweater-and-haircut combination possible. See also the final poster and the sketch for the Cracker record that inspired the poster. Enjoy.

Dear Friends of Music, this is a project that I've been working on for a while now, and I'm glad to finally see it on paper. David Lowery from Camper Van Beethoven asked if I'd consider making the song The Day That Lassie Went to the Moon (one of my favorites) into a kid's book, and I thought it was a great idea for a poster as well as a book (the book is still to come!). Well, a bunch of hours of sketching, drawing, and printing later, here she is. Have a gander, and if you'd like, head over to the shop to buy yourself one. The kind folks from ALO have hired me to do their "Tour D'Amour" poster for a few years now. Here's the 2014 offering: say hello to Saint Valentine! He was martyred (at least one of several Saint Valentines was) for illegally marrying Christian couples against Roman law. Hey, people. Love is love is love. xm

These posters commemorate yet another fabulous Driveway Follies in the Glenview district of Oakland, CA. Do you want one? Yes you do! Go directly to the Wertzateria shop and buy yourself one. As soon as it arrives, put it under some bright light and then get in a totally dark space. Say "Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary" in a spooky low voice, then open your eyes to see the Magical Glow of this poster!

Dear Friendlies, the poster I did for The Haiti Poster Project is now on sale. It's a 18" x 24" 2-color screenprinted poster (printed by Nat @ Bloom Screen Printing Co.), and it's a goody, if I do say so myself.
The Haiti Poster Project was launched three days after the January 12th, 2010 earthquake in Haiti. The project is a collaborative effort by the design community to help effect change through our work. Signed and numbered, limited edition posters have been donated by designers and artists from around the world. All money raised will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

p.s. these posters travelled all the way to st. louis, where they got signed by both bands. go get one if you're at one of the shows. also: there's a good interview with david lowery talking about cracker's recent trip to play for the soldiers in iraq here.
EDIT 1.13.10: the first 150 posters of the edition sold out at the first four shows of the tour! i'll be sending another 30 out for the show at the highline ballroom in NYC. there's a small stack available at the shop as well.
