Golden Gate Park, an A to Z Adventure

Now on Sale!

Just in time for the 150th Anniversary of Golden Gate Park comes this new kids book highlighting the favorite spots of author Marta Lindsey and illustrator Michael Wertz. Walk with us through one of the most beautiful spots in the Bay Area. It’s crucial (especially now) that we support local indie bookstores, so get your copy through one of them by clicking the link below.

You’re Invited

Here’s a goofy video Andy and I made to celebrate the 150th Birthday of Golden Gate Park. It turns out that the favorite birthday cake of Hippie Hill? Granola. Seriously, though, I love this park, and it was a hoot to goof off and show some of my favorite spots.

The Book Trailer

Check out the trailer for Golden Gate Park, an A to Z adventure. What’s X, you ask? That’s a fine question. X is for The Monkey Hand Tree - also known as “X Chiranthomontodendron”.

The Board Book

“B is for Bison. Snort hello to these hairy beasts.

G is for Grizzly Bear. Give a roar for Monarch, who lived in the park.”

This large board book version of Golden Gate Park, an A to Z Adventure, includes Michael Wertz’s gorgeous illustrations with shorter text that invites little ones to join in the fun.

Sing a Song of Buffalo

Here’s another sing-along: this time we tell the tale of the brave Bison who fled their paddock in 1924, only to find that Buffalo Mozzarella Pizza was not to their liking. Pizza, no. Grass, yes. The Bison are out! The Bison are out!

The Theme Song

Now with Lyrics! Want to sing along when we launch the book in May? Check out this fun little video we made to highlight Andy Cowitt’s smart lyrics to the Golden Gate Park Theme song.

The Live Book Launch

We partnered with the Golden Gate Park 150 Committee to create a “Live” Book Launch with Author Marta, the Illustrator Michael (yours truly), and the Songwriter Andy to create a fun event for kids (of all ages). You can see the live event right here! What you’ll see: readings, sing-alongs, a drawing lesson, and a special offer from Michael and Marta!

Draw The Conservatory

Here’s a quick and easy method of drawing that I learned from my colorforms: break all the big shapes down into circles, squares, and triangles. Works every time! All you need is a pencil. Give it a try!

Draw a Bison with Me!

I love to draw [surprise!]. Let’s celebrate the addition of five new baby Bison to the Bison paddock at the park by drawing one of these weird and wonderful critters.
